Retreat

The farm friends retreated this weekend, in part, to hang a door in the woods. An invitation to enter into Creation, into Life, into a New Way or, perhaps, an Old Way, but certainly, into a Way Different and, we'd hope, Beautiful.

There are stars
in the frozen fields
that will go unnoticed
unless I choose
to notice them...

One who loved nature...

HE was not learned in any art;

But Nature led him by the hand;

A Great Flood

Fiddle music rising over the hills
children laughing
dogs barking
friends playing and singing...

sorrows divided,
happiness multiplied
like loaves and bread

joy flooding the evening
raising us all to higher ground.

Widow Skimmer

She is a Grandeur
a Widow bathed in scintillation
and softly clothed in coruscation
a Glimmer and a Wink and a Glow

And when she flies
oh,
how she flies
with finesse
with grace
with elegance and lace
and the Joy she shares
as she tarries there
none other can ever know.

Northern Fence Lizard

The male Northern Fence Lizard has a blue belly to attract the females. The bluer the belly, the sexier the lizard.
